As we get closer to All-Star Weekend, the NHL unveiled its captains for the 2024 All-Star Game. Included are some of the biggest names in the league, along with some well-known celebrities. The All-Star Game takes place on Feb. 3 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
Team Matthews
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews will be the captain for Team Matthews. Matthews is currently leading the league in goals this season with 38. His teammate Morgan Rielly will serve as the assistant captain, while Canadian singer Justin Bieber will be the celebrity captain for the team. Team Matthews will be wearing the blue jerseys during the game.
Team McDavid
Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid will captain Team McDavid. McDavid leads the Oilers with 59 points this season. Joining McDavid will be assistant captain Leon Draisaitl and celebrity captain Will Arnett. Team McDavid will be rocking the white jerseys in the All-Star Game.
Team MacKinnon
Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon, who leads the league in points this season, will be the captain for Team MacKinnon. Canadian singer/songwriter Tate McRae will be the celebrity captain, while Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar will serve as the assistant captain. Team MacKinnon will wear the yellow jerseys during the competition.
Team Hughes
The final team is Team Hughes, co-captained by brothers Jack and Quinn Hughes. Jack Hughes plays for the New Jersey Devils, while Quinn Hughes is the current captain of the Vancouver Canucks. Acting as the celebrity captain of the team will be singer Michael Bublé. Team Hughes will dress in the red jerseys for the game.
The four teams will compete in a single-elimination three-on-three tournament. There will be a total of three games played, with each game lasting 20 minutes. The NHL All-Star Game team captains, celebrity captains, and assistant captains will be responsible for drafting the rest of their 11-player teams during the NHL Player Draft, which takes place on Feb. 1.
