Toronto Maple Leafs vs New York Islanders

Some Toronto Maple Leafs fans were getting worried about Mitch Marners’ slow start this season. Well, in this game he stepped up with two goals. Goalie Joseph Woll stopped all 20 shots he faced to win his second game for the Leafs.

The New York Islanders struggled and have yet to win a game in two tries in their new UBS arena. The Leafs peppered Ilya Sorokin with 40 shots enroute to their victory.

Ottawa Senators vs Colorado Avalanche

Even a hat trick by the Sens Zach Sanford wasn’t enough to overcome the powerful Colorado Avalanche. Nazem Kadri had one goal and three assists to pace the Av’s. Cale Makar also added two goals. The Ottawa Senators pulled ahead 5-4 in the wild third period which saw a half dozen tallies by both teams. The Av’s sealed it with three unanswered goals to claim the victory.

Chicago Blackhawks vs Calgary Flames

In a contest which was tied 2-2 after two periods, the Calgary Flames scored three unanswered goals, with Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau each potting key goals to pace the Flames. The hapless Chicago Blackhawks only managed 21 shots on Jacob Markstrom.
