Podcast host and 49ers beat reporter, Chase Senior, announced today from sources that the niners don’t want to trade Brandon Aiyuk. In fact, they want to sign Aiyuk to a long-term deal.

Senior is still at the NFL Combine, surrounded by other analysts. These analysts believe that the niners will sign Aiyuk to a long-term deal, based on what they have gathered.

49ers GM, John Lynch, was also quoted yesterday saying “Brandon is someone we want to keep around for a long time.”

If the deal were to happen, it would be a massive win for the 49ers and their fanbase. Last season, Aiyuk built on what was a stellar 2022 campaign. He caught 75 passes on 105 targets, for 1342 yards and 7 touchdowns. His 17.9 yards per reception was good for second in the NFL just behind George Pickens’ 18.1. He was selected to the NFL’s second team All-Pro because of these numbers.

Aiyuk also caught a key touchdown pass amidst the niners 34-31 comeback against Detroit in the NFC Championship game.

We’ll leave the link to the full video from Chase Senior down below.

While Aiyuk isn’t as big of a difference-maker for the 49ers as Deebo Samuel or Christian McCaffrey is, he still has played an integral role in the offense on 3rd downs. When you watch a niners game, Aiyuk is usually coming down with either a 1st down or a touchdown when it gets to 3rd. He’s their go-to guy in those situations.

Furthermore, as I already explained in my five takeaways from the super bowl, the niners are still in a good spot to compete next season. Keeping Aiyuk makes a ton of sense. And with news of the salary cap rising by a record $30.6 million, the niners should have the financial flexibility to offer Aiyuk a long-term deal.
