One Move Each Team Should Make Before The Deadline

With the NFL trade Deadline approaching at the end of this month, there are hundreds of speculations as to who should be buyers, who should be sellers, blah blah blah. That’s not what I am doing today. Today I am going to give you one move that each team should make to either set themselves up for a Super Bowl run, or a Playoff push for the rest of the season. Obviously even if a team does make this move it does not mean they are automatic contenders, but it sure makes a difference and can help set them up for a run or to at least not finish last.

DISCLAIMER: These are the best case scenario options for teams, a lot of which are unlikely. There are also some guys who will be free agents, but may just be a good fit.

New England Patriots

There isn’t a lot that the Patriots can do to make their season a super success, but one thing they could do is get a good WR1. You almost had D-Hop but it didn’t work out, so go get Jerry Jeudy from the Selling Broncos.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills biggest problem isn’t really a position on the field, but it has been execution in big moments over the last few years. Nonetheless, they could use an upgrade at WR2 to take some pressure off Diggs. Look for Marquise Brown from the Cardinals, great speed and a good talent.

Miami Dolphins

The only thing I can think of to add to this team is depth at O-line in case someone goes down. Garrett Bolles would be great here at the deadline.

New York Jets

The Jets are very good, and Zach Wilson has been playing the best football of his NFL career, yet the O-line could use some help. A guy that will be mentioned a lot in this article, Garrett Bolles, would be a big help in that department.

Houston Texans

The Texans are one of the surprisingly good teams this season, with QB CJ Stroud proving to everyone that a test doesn’t determine talent. One thing they need to improve, however, is their D’Line. Go get a guy like Melvin Ingram at the deadline, who is a vet but also still has some talent left in the tank.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are a team that is expected to now make the playoffs and compete every season. Their biggest weakness is on defense and there is a piece that they could add that has been proven to help in the rush and in coverage. Jamal Adams would be a great addition to the team at the deadline.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans are a team that can continue their pace or can rebuild and retool while they still have value. I think they will go for the first option. Get a guy like Garrett Bolles to help give holes for Henry and protection for Tannehill or whoever is QB.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have shown bright spots early in the season, specifically with QB Anthony Richardson. They need more offensive weapons for him, however. Go get a guy like Mike Gesicki from the Pats, giving now QB1 Gardner Minshew another option,

Kansas City Chiefs

I don’t think it is any surprise that the Chiefs biggest need is WR help at the deadline. They need a top guy who can be their consistent No. 1 option excluding Kelce. Probably my favorite option for them would be Tee Higgins. Higgins is WR1 talent stuck on an insane trio in Cincinnati. Unleash the beast.

Denver Broncos

The Broncos should not look to add any major talent. They will, however, add draft capital and spot fillers. That’s just the reality for them this season. Sorry Broncos fans.

Los Angeles Chargers

Losing J.C. Jackson will need to be addressed the most, go get one of the best in the game right now from a team willing to move him at the right price. Patrick Surtain II, welcome to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders have shown signs of life in a few games this season. All they need to do is keep Jimmy G healthy, get the ball to Davante Adams, and improve their defense. CB Amani Oruwariye could help on the outside in the secondary.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals look to finally be over their annual beginning of the season struggles, but there is a couple of places they could improve. One of the biggest spots they need to upgrade is at CB, while it is a long shot, Patrick Surtain II would be an immense upgrade, but like I said, unlikely.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Other than needing to replace their OC, the Steelers could use an upgrade anywhere along the O-Line. A name I will throw out can be Garrett Bowles.

Cleveland Browns

With the loss of Nick Chubb, the Browns offense needs another dude who can go make a play. Darnell Mooney could be the perfect opposite for Amari Cooper, go get him.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens need to find a RB that can stay healthy. They have to move off the Dobbins train and get on the train of health. Get a guy like Michael Carter or Zack Moss.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers need to protect and give Jordan Love more time to throw the ball and make his reads. Get some O-line depth with a guy like Gabe Jackson.

Detroit Lions

The Lions have a solid team all around, but one thing they can add depth to is the Offensive Line. You could go and get a guy like Marcus Cannon and just give added experience and depth to an important position.

Minnesota Vikings

This is the only other team that I believe should be true sellers this year. They are 2-3 with their only wins coming against the winless Panthers and the 1 win Bears.

Chicago Bears

I think we need to stop with the Justin Fields doubts. He has what it takes to be the guy for the Bears, but they need to protect him. One guy they can get is Garrett Bowles from the Broncos. He would help give Fields some more time to get the ball to DJ Moore.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys don’t have any glaring holes that can’t be fixed with their main guys just being healthy. They could go and get a second tier CB to help just fill the gap from losing Diggs. I don’t have a specific name to put out there but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to go that direction.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are very talented, but have yet to really show their true potential. With some guys who are banged up on the offensive line, you could go get a guy like Gabe Jackson to help build up that line and add some depth.

Washington Commanders

The Commanders have been the definition of inconsistent this season. They went from taking the Eagles to OT, to getting blown out by the Bears. They need to be able to defend the pass a little better, which is why they should go and get a guy like CB Casey Hayward at the deadline.

New York Giants

There are plenty of needs for the Giants, but there is only one position that they can’t catch a break. Get an offensive lineman, anyone, it doesn’t matter. You are so thin there because of talent and injuries you will need D-lineman to play Offense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs have been decent so far this season, but there is a lot of room for improvement. They can play it conservative and get a guy like Garrett Bowles to help the O-line, or they can make a splash and trade for a guy like Saquon Barkley.

Atlanta Falcons

While this may be a bit of a hot take, I don’t think that Desmond Ridder is going to be that guy for the Falcons. But I would wait to take. aQB in the draft this year or next. At the deadline, I would go after an Edge to put some pressure on the opposing QB. A name I will put out there is Frank Clark, but I’m sure there are plenty of options out there.

Carolina Panthers

The rebuilding Panthers still have a lot of holes to fill, either at the deadline or in the offseason, but they could snag a talented WR1 from a few different teams. Jerry Jeudy, Tee Higgins, and Davante Adams are names that could be thrown around for this team.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints are down a few Tight Ends right now, especially with Taysom Hill getting a couple reps at QB recently. A guy like Dan Arnold would be helpful in filling the gap and creating depth at the position.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have a lot of holes that they need to fill, and while it won’t make much of a difference this season, adding another piece to the Secondary will prove more beneficial at this moment for a team that can’t stop anything that breathes. Add Patrick Surtain II.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams have been surprisingly competitive so far this season, but still have a few holes they can improve. one of those is the Offensive line. You need to protect Stafford with his age and injury history, and you also need to keep your running backs from getting injured. Garrett Bowles would be a great option for the Rams.

San Fransisco 49ers

The 49ers are one of the teams that really doesn’t need anything, as they are talented top to bottom. Staying healthy is the biggest goal for the team, not making a trade at the deadline.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks have fallen victim to the injury bug this season, and no position group has paid for it more than the secondary. Depth at that position is key to their success, which is why a veteran guy like Logan Ryan would be a nice pick up for them.
