The Ottawa Senators have placed goaltender Anton Forsberg on long-term injured reserve after the 31-year-old suffered a groin injury in Thursday’s 5-3 loss against the Buffalo Sabres, according to Postmedia’s Bruce Garrioch. By landing on long-term injured reserve, Forsberg will miss a minimum of 10 games and 24 days.
The injury occurred with 3:44 left in the first period. Forsberg stretched out his right leg to make a save on Buffalo’s Zach Benson and immediately felt something in his groin. His teammates helped him off the ice, and he did not return to the game with what the Senators called a right groin injury. Joonas Korpisalo replaced Forsberg in net.
