The New England Patriots are taking on the Tennesee Titans at Gillette Stadium this weekend. The Titans have not looked the same since Derrick Henry went down with an injury. While the Patriots are on a 5 game win streak. Both teams are near the top of the AFC. The Titans sit at 8-3 and the Patriots at 7-4.
This game will not be a superstar battle, it will be a team effort on both sides. No Derrick Henry for the Titans, no superstar for the Patriots.
Lets look at some keys to the game.
Titans Keys to the Game
Ball Security
With no dominant run game, the Titans can’t control the clock like they could with Henry. To be successful, the Titans will have to be efficient with the ball. Ryan Tannehill needs to make the right reads with AJ Brown. The running backs need to be efficient, they don’t need to be great, they just have to be enough.
Defense
The Patriots offense has been very good the past few weeks. They have put up at least 24 points in the last 7 games. Mac Jones has come along very nicely in his rookie season, he ahs been very efficient. The Patriots run game has also been really good, they have rushed for 1200 yards this season. The Titans need to keep this offense off the field, because without Derrick Henry they may struggle to stay in the game if the Pats score a lot.
Patriots Keys to the Game
Running Backs
The Patriots have emerged with two good running backs. Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson have both had 100 yard games this season. The loss of James White earlier in the season hasn’t hurt as bad as expected. These two have taken over the backfield and provided a great run game for Mac Jones and the rest of the offense to rely on at times.
Mac Jones
Mac has been the best rookie quarterback this season, he needs to remain focused. He has fit right into the Patriots offense. He has been very efficient, completing 70% of his passes. The Patriots and Mac have been able to march down the field while passing and running the ball. Mac needs to be able to produce points and offense through the air this week.
Patriots vs Titans Overview
Both teams are the leaders in their division going into the game. This should be a a really good game between two very talented teams. The Patriots come in red hot and are looking to keep the train rolling. While the Titans are trying to find their identity without Derrick Henry.
