Suns Playoff Run Comes With Easy Motivation
The Phoenix Suns playoff run starts either this coming Saturday or Sunday. Either way it will not be soon enough for the team. After clinching the best record in the NBA Suns starters rested every other game, including tonight at Sacramento. The only reason for excitement for games was to set the team record for wins, which they did.
The Utah Jazz game Friday night saw Phoenix overcome a 17 point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter. They held the Jazz to 3-20 shooting the fourth, finding a way to win a game that meant nothing for them. The start of the Suns playoff journey means the team finally can finish what they started last year and win its first championship. Losing out on the chance after being up 2-0 in the Finals last year makes it even easier to be mentally ready.
Phoenix Health as good as its Been All Season
Seven of Phoenix’s top eight players missed games this season. Yes, the Suns record did not take that much of a hit when Chris Paul or Devin Booker missed games. The bench still found a way to be productive with Cameron Johnson and Landry Shamet out. Due to the number of injuries to the team suffered this year it made sense for them to rest starters down the stretch.
Dario Saric’s injury in the Finals last season is another reason for Monty Williams to rest players. His loss led to Phoenix being badly outrebounded by the Milwaukee Bucks. Paul and Booker also struggled with injuries in the final few games of the series. They won’t use it as an excuse but the healthier the Suns are the better the teams chances to finally get over the hump and win a championship.
