Game 3 Preview
Tonight brings Game 3 of the 2022 World Series in Philadelphia between the Astros and the Phillies. The series is currently tied at one game a piece, and the Phillies are looking to jump on the home field advantage for the next three games.
Game 3’s matchup tonight brings right-hander Lance McCullers Jr.vs left-hander Ranger Suarez. McCullers has been dominant so far this postseason. While only pitching 11 innings in 2 games, he has managed to put up 13 strikeouts and giving up only 3 runs. Ranger Suarez has been used both as a starter and from the bullpen so far this October for the Phillies. Within his 4 appearances over 9.2 innings pitched, he has put up a 1.86 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP.
Always Rainy in Philadelphia.
Game 3 was postponed last night due to inclement weather, but was pushed back to tonight. This means that the next three games have all been pushed back a day, along with the scheduled day off and games 6 and 7 if necessary. This is not the first time that game 3 of the World Series has been rainy in Philadelphia. In the past four Phillies appearances in the Fall Classic, it has looked like:
- Game 3, 1993: Delayed by rain
- Game 3, 2008: Delayed by rain
- Game 3, 2009: Delayed by rain
- Game 3, 2022: Postponed by rain
There is no concern for weather for the next couple nights as it looks to be only partly cloudy in Philly. Both teams are looking to capitalize on the extra day of rest, so it should be interesting to see how the postponement will affect the outcome of the next few games.
Houston has been nothing short of scary this postseason, going 8-1 so far with Game 1 being the only loss. However, the Phillies seem to be a team of destiny, being the underdogs who have taken out the Braves and Padres in their march through October. Will we see the Phillies jump on top with the home field advantage through the next few games? Or will Houston continue their path of destruction on their way to their second title since 2017?
