It looks like the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks will have to part with some significant pieces if they want Bruce Brown. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Toronto Raptors are looking for a return that includes more than just a first-round pick for Bruce Brown.
“The Raptors’ asking price for teams interested in acquiring Bruce Brown has been described as a future first-round pick and a quality player … at a minimum,” said Stein in his newsletter.
The Indiana Pacers traded Bruce Brown to the Raptors on Jan. 17. He was involved in the deal that sent two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam to Indiana in exchange for three first-round picks, Jordan Nwora, and Brown.
Toronto’s asking price for Brown is steep, but they can wait for the right deal to come their way. Brown is in the first year of a two-year, $45 million contract he signed with Indiana before the season. The contract includes a club option for the 2024-25 season.
Possible Destinations For Brown
Two teams that have been linked as possible trade destinations for the 27-year-old are the Lakers and Knicks. The Lakers have been keeping a close eye on Brown since free agency last June, while Brown even acknowledged that he is the type of player Tom Thibodeau’s Knicks could use. With both teams interested in the strong defender who can play on both ends of the floor, the Raptors could end up getting the return they are looking for.
Bruce Brown was selected 42nd overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. He spent time with the Detroit Pistons and Brooklyn Nets before signing with Denver prior to the 2022-23 season.
Brown played an important role with the Denver Nuggets when they won the NBA championship. He averaged 12 points, four rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game during the 2023 postseason. This season, Brown is averaging 12 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.
