Kylian Mbappé has signed a three year contract extension with Paris Saint Germain. As a result, the transfer saga is officially over. This article will discuss and analyze the effect that this has had on the Real Madrid players and fanbase. Additionally, the response this can trigger in the market for Real.

Real Madrid have been scouting Mbappé since he was a 17 year old prodigy at Monaco. The Frenchman decided to take another small step in his career before eventually making the huge move to Real Madrid. In 2021, Los Blancos showed their desire to sign the superstar by upping their original bid of €160m to €200m. Now, after the drama that unfolded in the previous transfer window, Kylian has rejected Real’s third attempt to sign him and signed a new contract with PSG.

The player’s response

The news has triggered a social media response from many players. Federico Valverde, Rodrygo Goes, Luka Modric, Vini Jr and Karim Benzema all posted on their social media accounts in response to the news. All of their posts were different. Some had a caption, while others just had the image, but the message was clear; “Real Madrid is our home and it’s us against the world now.” The fanbase definitely appreciated these posts as it gave them a sense of reassurance. Time will tell whether the players will use this as motivation or it will hinder their performances on the field.

The main question now is, Where do Real Madrid go from here?

As reports have suggested, there was no “Plan B” to Kylian Mbappé. This was a deal that required full focus and attention because of the detailed negotiation process that deals like this possess. There was a verbal agreement between both parties so the thought of the Frenchman not signing was disregarded.

Real Madrid are in a Champions League final months after we saw arguably the best center back partnership of this generation, Ramos and Varane leave the football club. Real’s achievements this season have shown that they can compete with the best clubs in Europe without Mbappé.

Rumored replacements

Real Madrid fans are enthusiastic to see the response from their President, who’s now focused on finalizing the transfer of Aurélien Tchouaméni from AS Monaco. There’s many offensive players being mentioned to come in, like Christopher Nkunku, Darwin Nuñez, Raphael Leao and Riyad Mahrez. Realistically, Mahrez and a back up striker may be the only offensive additions to the squad this summer.

Rejected and Dejected, but never Neglected

Ultimately, missing out on Mbappé is a loss for the Spanish Champions, but the club will be fine and they can have the last laugh on the 28th in Paris. Vinícius Jr and Rodrygo will also continue to develop at a high rate with their importance to the squad growing. Hazard will also be eager to shine next season.
