Early on Monday, there was a report from Brett McMurphy that the Gonzaga Bulldogs would be joining the Pac-12 Conference. After the Pac-12 lost Oregon, USC, UCLA, Washington and others they are looking to build the best conference they can. They still need to add two schools with a football program by 2026.

If Gonzaga does join the conference, it will add some strength to the conference, especially in basketball. As of now, the Bulldogs don’t have a football program. This news comes after Boise State, Fresno State, Colorado State, and San Diego State.

Gonzaga has arguably one of the best programs in college basketball today. They have been at the top of the WCC for a while. In fact, they have reached the NCAA Tournament in every year they have played since 1998. That run of dominance includes two Final Four appearances and at least 8 seasons of 30+ Wins.

Less than an hour after the tweet from McMurphy, Jon Rothstein posted to X basically saying that the report was not true.

“Sources: Contrary to reports, Gonzaga currently has no deal in place to leave the WCC for the Pac-12,” Rothstein wrote.

Other reporters such as Pete Nakos of On3 Sports and Nicole Auerbach of NBC confirmed that Gonzaga has not yet left the WCC for the Pac-12.
