Sammy Guevara wins the TNT Championship!

Sammy Guevara wins the TNT Champion for the third time, with his victory over Scorpio Sky. Battle of the Belts II, last night featured the rematch between Sammy and Scorpio Sky. Sammy with Tay Conti are now top heels in AEW. Based on the crowd response alone, it makes sense why Sammy Guevara should be champion again.

Sammy Guevara has won the title three times since September, beating Miro, and Cody Rhodes. He also defeated Dustin Rhodes for an interim TNT Championship on the First Battle of the Belts. Sammy Guevara is stepping out as a top heel in AEW right now.

His character is loaded with controversy right now due to his relationship with Tay Conti. Sammy was originally going to marry someone else but cheated on her with Tay Conti. Like any good wrestling company, they turned it into a cringe wrestling angle. This has resulted in Sammy Guevara getting one of the strongest reactions in AEW right now. This writer loves it, I’m being Sports Entertained!

This may be Sammy’s third reign, but it’s probably going to be his most memorable. He is very hot with the crowd right now. The massive number of boos was almost deafening on the show, and clearly, AEW is presenting him as a heel. There were several attempts to cheat in order to win. His victory came from a distracted referee and a low blow followed by his finisher. Who says AEW can’t use its refs for heel spots?

Scorpio Sky had a nice small run, one of the very few short titles runs in AEW. He performed excellently as well, so this writer hopes to see more of him in the near future. In the meantime, looking forward to the run of the Spanish God, Sammy Guevara.
