Seattle Seahawks 2023-2024 Preview

After a season where no one in the world thought they would make the win over 5 games let alone make the playoffs, the Seattle Seahawks didn’t slow down building a competitive roster that will not only compete for a playoff spot but compete for the division. With week 1 against the Rams coming up on September 10th, Let’s take a look at how the Seahawks are built for this season.

Key Losses

Just like every team, the Seahawks lost talent to other teams and retirement. Some of these names include RB Rashaad Penny, DL Quinton Jefferson, Al Woods, Shelby Harris, Poona Ford, OG Gabe Jackson, WR Marquise Goodwin, and S Ryan Neal. In comparison to other teams in the league, The Hawks lost much less than other teams. They also added an insane amount of talent to bolster an already young and talented roster.

Key Additions

Seattle had yet another great offseason, signing guys like LB Bobby Wagner and Devin Bush, DL Dre’Mont Jones and Mario Edwards Jr., C Evan Brown and S Julian Love. They also drafted the likes of CB Devon Witherspoon, WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, RB Zach Charbonnet and Kenny McIntosh. The Hawks also were able to extend Comeback Player of the Year Geno Smith.

Roster Highlights

The Seahawks shored up their Defense, Adding Devon Witherspoon to compliment rookie sensation Tariq Woolen, as well as bringing back Seahawks legend Bobby Wagner after his one year stint in Los Angeles. Wagner will have the chance to continue giving his knowledge to budding star Jordyn Brooks when he comes back from his ACL Injury last season, along with former Steeler Devin Bush who also is trying to make a comeback from an older ACL Injury.

On the Offensive side of the ball, the Running back group looks to be very strong with Potential Offensive Rookie of The Year Kenneth Walker III, followed up by Zach Charbonnet, who had a strong preseason, along with Rookie Kenny McIntosh. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has shown amazing talent and has the potential to break out and get some serious looks, despite being the WR3 on the roster. The Receiving room in Seattle should be considered a top tier room with the likes of Cincinnati’s Chase, Higgins, and Boyd.

Closing Thoughts and Predictions

Seattle is in a position that no one saw possible in the next 5 years after the Wilson trade, but Pete Carroll doesn’t seem to have a reputation of letting people be right about him and the Seahawks. Assuming health doesn’t become an issue for them, I can see them winning the division and potentially fighting for the 1 seed. Smith and Company are not going to write back anytime soon.
