Stephanie McMahon

Less than a week after it was announced that Vince McMahon was returning to WWE. His daughter Stephanie McMahon has resigned from her role as Co-CEO on Tuesday.

“About 8 months ago, I took a leave of absence and within a few weeks, unexpectedly had the opportunity of a lifetime. I had the privilege to return as the Co-CEO and Chairwoman of the Board of WWE,” Stephanie McMahon wrote. “I have decided to return to my leave and take it one step further with my official resignation.”

Stephanie has appeared on TV from time to time since the late ’90s. Sprinkling in some in reaction early on in the time frame, but most of her work has come from behind the scenes. McMahon has at various points served as the vice president of creative, the chief brand officer and, following her father’s departure, co-CEO alongside Nick Khan. The resignation comes as a bit of a surprise but it will allow Khan to move into the CEO position full-time.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Stephanie McMahon’s husband, will retain his role as head of WWE creative.

WWE Sale

Stephanie’s father Vince McMahon has returned to the company to ensure that the sale goes smoothly. While there were initial reports that the company had been sold to a Saudia Arabia Public Investment Fund, nothing has been made official.

With Stephanie McMahon resigning from WWE it leaves Nick Khan and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque in charge of the day-to-day operations.

“With Nick’s leadership and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque as chief content officer, I am confident WWE is in the perfect place to continue to provide unparalleled creative content and drive maximum value for shareholders,” Stephanie McMahon wrote in a statement released on Twitter to her 3.2 million followers.
