NFL Network has quickly pulled Michael Irvin from their Super Bowl LVII coverage due to a misconduct allegation filed against the analyst.
“Michael Irvin will not be a part of NFL Network’s Super Bowl LVII week coverage,” said Alex Riethmiller, NFL Media’s vice president of communications, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Irvin claimed confusion following his removal from coverage, stating he does not remember the encounter he had with the woman.
“Honestly, I’m a bit baffled with it all,” he told the Dallas Morning News. “I don’t recall the conversation, to tell you the truth. We were out drinking. It was a friendly conversation.”
The encounter occurred at a hotel on Sunday night, the network announced.
Since 2009, Irvin has served as a top analyst for NFL Network. Irvin can be seen appearing on NFL Gameday Morning each Sunday, as well as shows such as shows such as NFL Total Access. Along with his Super Bowl coverage, Irvin also specializes in coverage of the NFL Scouting Combine.
Moreover, Irvin is further known for his prolific career as a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. A 2007 inductee into the NFL’s Hall of Fame, Irvin spent his entire 10-year career in Dallas. During that time, he won three Super Bowls in 1993, 1994, and 1996 while amassing 750 receptions, 11,905 yards and 65 touchdowns. Currently, Irvin remains atop of all three categories in Cowboys history.
There are no further details at this time regarding the allegations.
