Who’s Starting for the Giants?
The New York Giants (4-8) and the Los Angeles Chargers (7-5) are coming into a Week 14 matchup short-handed. Last week’s starter for the Giants, Mike Glennon, suffered a concussion before the game against the Miami Dolphins ended. Jake Fromm was trending toward starting in his place on Sunday, but Glennon could be cleared.
New York signed Fromm from the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad last week after Daniel Jones suffered a neck strain injury in Week 12. Fromm still has to learn more from the Giants playbook to get a chance to start.
The Giants offense could not get any traction against a good and improving Dolphins defense with Glennon at the helm. The Chargers’ defense is good as well, but they do struggle against the run. On the other side, New York has struggled running against teams in the past few weeks. Expect a tough matchup once again for the offense.
Giants running back Saquon Barkley was added to the team’s injury report. He was limited at Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury.
Chargers Without Top Receivers
Los Angeles is also coming into the game short-handed on offense. Wide receivers, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are on the COVID-19 list heading into Week 14. Chargers’ quarterback Justin Herbert is going to have some trouble without his top two targets.
Allen is vaccinated and must get two consecutive negative tests to be eligible to play on Sunday. Currently, the Chargers will rely on Jalen Guyton, Joshua Palmer, Jared Cook, and Austin Ekeler in the receiving corps.
The Giants are 1-5 on the road this season and are facing a good Chargers’ team at SoFi Stadium. The Chargers are one game out of first place in the AFC West and are in heavy competition for the three AFC wild-card spots.
