The Jake Fromm Experiment Short-Lived

Jake Fromm’s first start in the NFL was short-lived as the Giants (4-11) could not do anything against Philadelphia’s defense, losing 34-10. After a rough three weeks with Mike Glennon starting, head coach Joe Judge decided to start Fromm only to go back to Glennon in the second half.

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles (8-7) bounced back after experiencing a 13-7 loss against the Giants in Week 12. In that matchup, Hurts had the worst game of his two-year career, throwing three interceptions and injuring his ankle.

Like Week 12, this matchup was decided by defense, this time it was the Eagles that shutdown the Giants. Eagles’ Boston Scott broke the game open by rushing for a three-yard touchdown after a Fromm interception early in the third quarter.

Fromm was only six of 17 for 25 yards passing, and one interception before getting benched. Later on, Mike Glennon threw a pick-six to Alex Singleton with 10:19 left in the fourth quarter.

Giants’ defensive coordinator Patrick Graham’s unit did not play as well as the first game against Philly. In the second half, the Eagles managed to score 27 points off the Giants’ defense, much more than they had the last matchup.

Jalen Hurts was 17-29 for 199 yards and two touchdowns. In addition, Hurts keeps his team in the playoff race.

The Eagles surpass Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Wild Card standings with the win. The Vikings drop out of the standings after losing to the Los Angeles Rams.

Future For the Giants

It was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Giants plan to bring back Joe Judge and Daniel Jones for the 2022 season. There was speculation that the Giants could move on from one of them if not both in the off-season.

Judge and Jones have had a rough season, but the organization likes them and believes that they can improve. Some fans don’t share the same opinion, especially after getting blown out by the Eagles.

In two seasons, Judge has a record of 10-21 as head coach.

Giants’ front office would have to sign Jones’ fifth-year $21 million option to keep him next year.

As a result of the current failure, the Giants now have the fourth and sixth pick in the draft, the only bright side for this organization this year.
