The new duo in Dallas now sits at 0-2 together after the last possession falls apart against Timberwolves. At the same time, Cleveland’s star guard has another high-scoring night to push his team within the top three of the Eastern Conference.

Kyrie’s 20+ Point Fourth Quarter Not Enough

In their second game together, Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic scored 69 points but would come up short in a 124-121 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Dallas Mavericks struggled to find scoring from elsewhere as Christian Wood was the only other player to score double digits for Dallas. Irving scored 36 while Doncic had 33; with it being the second straight loss together, the Mavericks need scoring from elsewhere as they’ve given up 133 and 124 in the last two games. On the other side, Anthony Edwards had 32 points, and Rudy Gobert had 21 points and 14 rebounds. The Timberwolves look to continue to click wins off while missing Karl-Anthony Towns to stay in contention in the Western Conference.

Business as Usual for Cleveland

In an easy matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star Donovan Mitchell led the team to a 117-109 victory to stay in the race in the Eastern Conference. Mitchell scored 41 points, shooting 16-26 from the field and 6-13 from beyond the arc. In his 15th career game with 40+ points, Mitchell joins LeBron James and Irving as the only Cavaliers with more than five 40-point games. This is Mitchell’s first year in Cleveland, and he will continue to add to his legacy and break records at his new home.

Villanova Teammates Led the Knicks

Newly acquired guard Josh Hart has already impacted the New York Knicks by scoring 27 points, shooting 10-14 from the field and 4-6 from three. Meanwhile, his former Villanova Wildcat teammate Jalen Brunson scored 40 points, shooting 15-21 from the field and 6-9 from beyond the arc. Brunson and Hart have lit a spark for the Knicks offense with back-to-back 120+ point wins. Expect Hart to be inserted into the starting lineup after scoring season-high while coming off the bench.
