The Tennessee Titans have made some big moves early in the offseason. Within span of a couple of days, Taylor Lewan, Robert Woods, and Zach Cunningham all became cap casualties. These moves helped the Titans create about $12 million in cap space. But what’s next for the players? In this article, I’m going to discuss the future outlook of Tennessee’s recent cuts and where they may end up.
Taylor Lewan

Lewan has been a member of the Titan’s organization for nine years. Throughout his tenure with the team, he has seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. The three time Pro Bowler was there for Tennessee’s 2-14 season as well as their trip to the AFC Championship. However, his cap hit was simply too steep for the Titans to keep aboard and now he must look ahead to wherever he may land next. During Lewan’s discussion surrounding his releasing on his podcast Bussin’ With The Boys, Lewan stated that “I know the Bengals need a left tackle” when fellow host Will Compton asked what teams he may be looking to play for next.
In my opinion, Cincinnati as a potential landing spot for Lewan makes perfect sense. The Bengals have proven over the past couple of years that they are ready and able to win right now. After a narrow Super Bowl loss to the Rams and another loss in a close contest to the Chiefs, the Bengals are just a few pieces away from taking the crown. Many argue that the Bengals’ offensive line is the main reason they haven’t won a Super Bowl with Joe Burrow under center. I agree. Jonah Williams has been less than spectacular his last three years in Cincinnati and I believe the Bengals need to make an upgrade at the position protecting Burrow’s blindside. I believe Lewan would slide in perfectly on the Bengals on a two or three year deal with the hopes of helping them finally get over the hump.
Robert Woods

Woods didn’t have the most successful tenure in Tennessee, only amassing 527 yards and two touchdowns in his lone season with the club. Ultimately leading him to become one of the Titan’s cap casualties. However, many people, myself included, believe that Woods can still make an impact for a team as a solid WR2 or as a very good WR3. With that being said, I think there are a couple suitors for Woods next season.
One of the more obvious landing spots is the LA Rams. After Cooper Kupp‘s showed interest on Twitter in reuniting with Woods, I can definitely see Woods heading back to the Rams. Furthermore, the Rams have a serious lack of receiving production this past season. After playing only half the season, Kupp still lead the team in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. The addition of Woods would add much needed leadership and talent to LA’s receiving room.
Another spot I can see Woods landing is in New York with the Giants. It’s not secret that the Giants have a subpar receiving unit to say the least. Not only was it bad last year, but they are potentially losing both Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard heading into next year. If the Giants want to return to the playoffs, they must improve their pass catching group. Woods would add a true route running separator to the team and undoubtedly be an upgrade to what the Giants have currently. New York has over $46 million in cap space and can easily afford to add a vet like Woods.
Zach Cunningham

Cunningham only played in six games last year and even when he did play, he wasn’t playing particularly well. But, that is not to say that he can’t find himself some of the success he had earlier in his career on a new team.
There are plenty of teams that could use a true inside linebacker so I think the opportunities will be plentiful for Cunningham. One team I can see as a fit for Cunningham is in Seattle with the Seahawks. Jordyn Brooks is a stud, but after tearing his ACL late in the season, there is no guarantee he’s back at 100% heading into next year. Outside of Brooks, Seattle’s linebacker room isn’t the greatest. They could use a vet like Cunningham to carry some of the load until Brooks can come back.
Another team I can see landing Cunningham is the Indianapolis Colts. Cunningham has already suited up for half of the AFC South teams, so why not join a third? The Colts very well may be losing Bobby Okereke in free agency and already have Shaq Leonard coming off an injury. Similarly to Seattle, Indianapolis could use Cunningham’s experience to help take some of the weight off the young guys’ shoulders.
Overall, I think these three cap casualties are going to be just fine when it comes to their future in the NFL.
tl//dr: Cap Casualties.
