Last week brought us a fantastic slate of games featuring several ranked matchups and surprise stories. This week will be no different, featuring six ranked matchups and a few undefeated records at stake. Here are your top 5 must-see games of week 7.

Honorable Mentions:

  • LSU (4-2) at Florida (4-2) – Keep an eye on this matchup under the lights in The Swamp. LSU and Florida have had one of the most intense rivalries in college football for the past 15 years. With both teams at 4-2 and featuring new head coaches, it will be a good time to measure where each program is headed.
  • No. 4 Clemson (6-0) at FSU (4-2) – Clemson looks to extend its six-game winning streak over FSU in Doak Campbell. Meanwhile, the Noles will be facing their third straight ranked opponent. They’ve lost their last two but that doesn’t matter, a win here could change the program’s trajectory.
  • No. 16 Miss State (5-1) at No. 22 Kentucky (4-2) – The Rebels will be looking for their best start to a season since 2014 while Kentucky aims to stay ranked after a tough loss to South Carolina.

5. No. 7 USC (6-0) at No. 20 Utah (4-2)

When: Saturday, 8:00 pm ET

Where: Rice-Eccles Stadium, UT

Spread: Utah (-3.5)

Aside from the UCLA game in week 11, this could arguably be the toughest obstacle on USC’s road to the playoff. Utah’s home crowd is one of the best in the PAC-12 and will create a fantastic environment for this night game. The Trojans are coming off a big win against Washington State where Travis Dye rushed for a season-best 149 yards. Their loaded offense is averaging 40 points per game this year. Surprisingly, Utah is also averaging 40 while featuring the best defense in the PAC-12, which probably explains why they’re favorites. Pay attention to this one as Utah has a great chance to knock off a playoff contender.

4. No. 15 NC State (5-1) at No. 18 Syracuse (5-0)

When: Saturday, 3:30 pm ET

Where: JMA Wireless Dome, NY

Spread: Syracuse (-3.5)

Last week, NC State got a gutsy win against FSU after losing their starting quarterback Devin Leary late in the game. With his status still in question, the undefeated Orange are seen as favorites at home. With head coach Dino Babers on the hot seat during the preseason, Syracuse’s hot start came out of nowhere this year. They feature the 10th-best defense in the country and will be fortunate to avoid Leary since backup Jack Chambers only attempted a single pass when he played. Syracuse hasn’t started 6-0 since 1987 and will have a good shot to keep their cinderella season alive.

3. No. 8 OK State (5-0) at No. 13 TCU (5-0)

When: Saturday, 3:30 pm ET

Where: Amon G. Carter Stadium, TX

Spread: TCU (-3.5)

This will be an exciting battle between a couple of undefeated teams fighting for the top spot in their conference. In typical Big 12 fashion, this big game is set up to be a back-and-forth contest. Both of these teams average 46.4 points per game, good for third in the country. While TCU is seen as the home favorite, Oklahoma State is a physical, quality football team that could cause problems for TCU’s offensive line.

2. No. 10 Penn State (5-0) at No. 5 Michigan (6-0)

When: Saturday, 12:00 pm ET

Where: Michigan Stadium, MI

Spread: Michigan (-7)

This will be the third top-10 matchup in the 25th meeting of this historic rivalry, the last one coming in 1997. Michigan has impressed with sophomore quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who has tossed 9 touchdowns and only 1 interception. However, their biggest strength is on the ground with Blake Corum, who’s already rushed for 11 touchdowns and 735 yards. For Penn State, it’s been quarterback Sean Clifford leading the charge with 13 total touchdowns this season. Defensively, both of these teams boast a top-10 rushing defense, so we could see both teams try to air it out more than usual.

1. No. 6 Tennessee (6-0) at No. 3 Alabama (6-0)

When: Saturday, 3:30 pm ET

Where: Neyland Stadium, TN

Spread: Alabama (-7)

The biggest game of the week resides in Knoxville, Tennessee. Alabama currently holds a 15-game winning streak over Tennessee, which is why many will be quick to count out the Vols in this rivalry matchup, but they have a real chance to upset Alabama with Bryce Young‘s status to play still up in the air. While he has been practicing in a limited capacity, there’s a good chance the Vols face Jalen Milroe. In his first start last week, Milroe completed 12/19 passes for only 111 yards, but threw 3 touchdowns and rushed for 81 yards. While the passing attack isn’t as explosive with him at the helm, Milroe’s dual-threat ability can hurt you in other ways. Make no mistake, Tennessee finally has the quarterback and the depth to compete with the big boys while the Crimson Tide have survived some extremely close finishes this year. This game could be one we remember for a long time.
