Tonight during Thursday night football Tua Tagovailoa is hospitalized after getting sacked by Cincinnati Bengals defensive player. The scene was scary as Miami’s starting quarterback stiffened up in an abnormal looking position and was unconscious. The reports are that it was a head and neck injury caused by the back of his head bouncing off the ground. This will be his second head injury this week.

The play that ended Miami’s starting quarterbacks night

Josh Tupou who is the nose tackle for the Bengals came through unblocked on a passing play. It was a textbook tackle that just ended very wrong. Tupou wrapped up the quarterback and spun him around to bring him down when Tua’s head bounced off the ground. Afterwards medical staff worked on him for a good ten minutes before he was loaded on a cart and driven off. While being carted off the whole team gathered at midfield as the fans chanted Tua’s name.

The Dolphins responded to questions before half time that their quarterback was awake and was able to move all his extremities. This is extremely great news as many were worried that the outcome was much worse. I’m sure an investigation will be held looking into the Dolphins handling of the players injury this week. He was listed as questionable all week ahead of tonight’s game, but was given the green light to play.

Tua Tagovailoa didn’t seem to be 100%

Tagovailoa didn’t look like himself in the game as he was 8-for-14 for 100 yards and an interception. This very well could have been due to him not being 100 percent. Anytime you see a player get injured after coming back very quickly from an injury we have to question the decision.

The Dolphins backup is Teddy Bridgewater and he is more than capable of carrying the load while their starter gets well.. He will finish out the game and may be the starter for some weeks to come. We will know more as we get updates from Miami concerning his health status. Our thoughts are with Tagovailoa and his family. We wish him a speedy recovery and full return to health.

Final Update:

Tua was cleared to be released from the hospital. He has all movements and consciousness at this time and will fly back home tonight with the team.
