Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro suffered a broken right hand late in the second quarter of the Heat’s Game 1 victory over the Bucks on Sunday. He is expected to miss the next four-to-six weeks.
It was clear that he was in considerable amounts of pain, even stepping off the court for a couple of seconds. The Heat guard attempted a three-point shot with his broken shooting hand.
Herro’s last shot
The Heat were able to take a 13-point lead into halftime, but Miami announced that Herro would not be returning to the game before the start of the second half. He scored 12 points while shooting 56% from the field in 19 minutes.
Heat luck out
Fortunately for Miami, the Bucks had a notable injury of their own. Milwaukee’s MVP-finalist, Giannis Antetokounmpo, was ruled out for the game after playing only 11 minutes due to a lower back contusion.
The Heat were able to hold on and steal Game 1 on the road despite the absence of Tyler Herro for the second half. But how many more games they can win without the high-scoring guard remains to be seen.
New her(r)o?
Averaging 20.1 points per game this season, Miami will have to find ways to fill to void left by Herro’s extended absence. The Heat take a 1-0 lead into Game 2 on Wednesday night and have to move forward without their best perimeter scorer.
