The World’s MMA leader has announced a monumental event for 2024. UFC 300 is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 13th. The announcement was made today on the company’s Instagram page. Fans have been wondering who could headline such a historic fight card. UFC President Dana White announced three bouts already for UFC 300 including a 205-pound matchup between former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jiri Prochazka and top contender Alexander Rakic.
What We Know So Far
UFC 300 has three confirmed bouts scheduled for the event
- Jiri Prochazka (29-4-1) vs Alexander Rakic (14-3)
- Bo Nickal (5-0) vs Cody Brundage (10-5)
- Calvin Kattar (23-7) vs Aljamain Sterling (23-4)
The promotion has not announced if these fights will be involved in the main card or the prelims yet. The return of talented prospect Bo Nickal is an exciting addition to the card. Also former Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling is moving up in weight to take on ranked Featherweight Calvin Kattar. Sterling lost his title to Sean O’Malley and will be competing for the first time at 145 pounds.
Yesterday Conor McGregor announced on his social media that he will be fighting Michael Chandler at International Fight Week in June. No statement has been made by UFC officials, but it sounds like McGregor will not be competing at UFC 300 and the show will have to be headlined by someone else. It’s too far out to know who the main event could be, but UFC president Dana White has promised a memorable night of fights.
Upcoming Schedule
To start the year the UFC will have a Fight Night card on January 13th headlined by Light Heavyweights Magomed Ankalev (18-1-1) and Johnny Walker (21-7). In the Co-main event top five ranked Flyweights Manel Kape (19-6) and Matheus Nicolau (19-4-1) face off. The following weekend, Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland will make the first defense of his title against Dricus Du Plessis on PPV.
UFC 297 takes place in Toronto, Canada, with many interesting prospects competing throughout the card. Canadian Welterweight contender Mike Malott (10-1-1) takes on 30-fight UFC veteran Neil Magny (28-12) in front of his native fans. Also, a Featherweight clash between undefeated Russian Movsar Evloev (17-0) and Arnold Allen (19-2) will be on the main card.
