Spring football returns at the end of March as the XFL and USFL merged to form the UFL. Following the merger, the league announced it will have eight teams making up two four-team divisions. On Thursday, the UFL announced the release of its league schedule. There will be 40 total games as each of the eight teams will play ten games. The new league year kicks off with the XFL Champion Arlington Renegades taking on the USFL Champion Birmingham Stallions. Let’s take a look at the entire schedule.
USFL Conference
The USFL Conference will be represented by three former USFL teams and one former XFL team. The Birmingham Stallions, Memphis Showboats and Michigan Panthers continue from the USFL. Since the USFL and XFL both had a presence in Houston during 2023, the UFL brought the Houston Roughnecks from XFL to the new merged league while putting them in the USFL Conference.

XFL Conference
On the other side of the UFL will be the XFL Conference. This conference will be made up of four former XFL teams including the 2023 XFL Champion Arlington Renegades. Joining Arlington in the new UFL will be the DC Defenders, San Antonio Brahmas and St. Louis Battlehawks.

UFL Teams
You may notice that all eight teams that make up the UFL exist in the Eastern and Central time zones. The XFL completed one season before the merger while the USFL completed two seasons. Birmingham won both USFL titles while Arlington won the XFL title. Both teams will not only continue in the UFL but will play in the season opener.
There’s potential for westward expansion should the UFL succeed. The 2023 UFL Season kicks off March 30th, 2024.
