The Pac-12 Championship is in less than two hours, while Oregon has never won a National Championship. This year may be the best chance that they have. They sport one of the best offenses in all of College Football.
The Ducks rank No. 2 in both Yards per game and points per game (45). Oregon QB Bo Nix has ascended the ranks and is the Heisman favorite heading into Conference Championship weekend. Since their loss to Washington, Oregon has been rolling over their opponents for the final five weeks of Pac-12 play. In that time, they have outscored them 214-72. Including, both a 35-6 thrashing of Utah and a 31-7 win over Oregon State.
The skill position players have been electric all season long. Bucky Irving is explosive in the backfield, with 1043 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. The combination of Troy Franklin and Tez Johnson have given Bo Nix two elite weapons. Both of them have been torching secondaries in every game they’ve played. Nix, himself has been electric. The past four weeks he has thrown for 350 yards and in three of those games, he has recorded four touchdowns. This offense is hitting their stride at the right point in the season.
Don’t count out this defense either, Dan Lanning has certainly turned it into a powerhouse. In fact, a top 15 defense in the nation.
There’s only one thing standing in the way… the Washington Huskies. The Oregon Ducks have to beat them in the Pac-12 Championship in order to keep their National Championship hopes alive. Regardless of the outcome its going to be a great game. The Ducks are playing their best brand of football right now, which makes them one of the most dangerous teams in all of College Football.
