From talks of being the number one pick to now rumors of falling down draft boards. CJ Stroud has NFL Draft experts puzzled on where he will end up going. Some still have him going to the Carolina Panthers first overall. Others amid draft rumors and breaking news have him falling. Needless to say, it’s been a tough week for the former Ohio State Buckeye.

Two of the bigger stories that came out included one with the S2 Cognition test results for the 2023 QB draft class. At the very bottom, CJ Stroud at 18%, 28% less than the second lowest score. The test focuses on dissecting a person’s processing and decision-making ability. While like the Wonderlic test it’s not the most important test in the world, but to fail so spectacularly will bring up a red flag. The other report came from Brady Quinn who accused Stroud of ghosting the Manning Passing Academy after committing to it. But Ryan Clark of ESPN conflicted this report stating Stroud never committed to anything with the Academy.

What’s strangest about all of this is that the Houston Texans, who hold the number two pick, are rumored to be favoring trading back. And if they can’t, some believe that they won’t go QB at all there. More likely than not, that would mean they would take someone like Will Anderson Jr. or Tyree Wilson who are considered the best defensive prospects in this class. But the strange part is neither Anderson nor Wilson is the betting favorite at this point but rather Kentucky QB Will Levis.

Does this mean the Texans already have a trade in place with another team and it’s altered the betting odds? It’s very much possible. Regardless, it just raises more questions about CJ Stroud and his NFL Draft stock. If he does make it to pick three, the Arizona Cardinals will have teams on the line ready to trade up for him. If not, it’s hard to imagine that he gets past both the Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts.
