Despite finishing as the fifth seed, the Dallas Mavericks surprised many by showing up in the NBA Finals. They were clicking on and off the court with numerous role players contributing to a winning environment. Head coach Jason Kidd had no doubt his team could win a stacked Western Conference.
The superstar duo of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic consistently showed up, allowing the Mavericks to dominate their opponents. Irving, in particular, flipped the narrative into being one of the best playoff risers in the NBA. He entered the arenas with a chip on his shoulder and showed out for the city of Dallas.
Although they lost to Boston on the league’s biggest stage, Dallas fans have high hopes for next season. They made several roster changes throughout the summer, improving their odds in a conference full of contenders.
With the superstar fusion of Irving and Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks will make the NBA Finals in back-to-back seasons.
With hopes of making and winning the NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks front office did an outstanding job in the offseason. They brought some of the league’s best role players, like Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall, and Quentin Grimes, to contribute on both ends of the floor and help win games.
Of the three, Thompson will have the most significant impact. He brings all-world three-point shooting and four championships worth of experience to excel in what is asked of him. Thompson will likely enter the starting rotation as a third option and is looking to add to his trophy collection.
Two-way wing PJ Washington will play a prominent role in a deep playoff run designed by the coaching staff. Off the charts, he ignites his teammates’ energy, making life even tougher for opponents on either side of the ball.
In the end, Dallas’ success dwindles down to the health and excellence of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic. If these two are on the same page, Kidd can tap cruise control as the Mavericks will ease their way to the promised land.
