In another Big Ten bout, the Wisconsin Badgers (19th) battled the Michigan State Spartans (17th). The game started off very defensively, as Wisconsin was only winning 29 to 23 at the half. Despite the sluggish start, both teams gathered momentum at the end of the first that carried over into the second.

After a successful free throw by Max Christie with 8:03 left in the second half, MSU was able to make it a two-point game. Unfortunately for them, they would not get any closer. Johnny Davis scored the next five points, and Wisconsin never looked back, holding on to win 70-62.

Notable Players

Michigan State was led by Marcus Bingham Jr. He finished with 15 points and 3 steals while shooting 5-9 from the field and 5-5 from the free-throw line. Coming off the bench, Malik Hall provided a scoring punch, 12 points on 5-5 shooting.

Guard Johnny Davis headed the attack for the Badgers, finishing with 25 points on 8-11 shooting. Brad Davison, a sharpshooter for Wisconsin, had a surprisingly off night, shooting just 20% from the floor and finishing with eight points. Luckily, Tyler Wahl and guard Chucky Hepburn were able to score 11 apiece to make of for Davidson’s off night.

Standings

The Wisconsin Badgers now sit at 19-4 overall with a 10-3 Big Ten record. Only Purdue is in front of them in the standings. Michigan State droops to 17-6 overall with an 8-4 Big Ten record.
