Sports fans in Arizona and Alabama have something to look forward to over the next two years. The University of Arizona and the University of Alabama have agreed to a home-and-home series in Basketball, with games set for 2023 and 2024. This exciting matchup will unite two top basketball programs as they compete for victory on each other’s home turf.
This event will bring enthusiastic sports supporters from both states, attracting even more visitors to these exciting cities. The first meeting won’t technically be a home game for the Wildcats, as their first match will be played on Dec. 20 at Footprint Center in Phoenix, just a short drive from the University of Arizona campus in Tucson.
The two programs were the one and two seeds in the South Region of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Their matchup was highly anticipated, but both schools were upset in the early rounds.
The Matchup Will Look Alot Different Next Season
Both teams feature NBA prospects who likely won’t be playing in these upcoming games, but that does not diminish the excitement surrounding this event. Brandon Miller, Alabama’s top freshman who might get picked in the top-five for NBA Draft, will most certainly declare soon.
On the other hand, Azoulas Tubellis, an All-American forward for Arizona, will also possibly leave the Wildcats to pursue professional opportunities. Tubellis is not as highly touted as Miller in NBA Draft projections, but he is an incredible athlete who has had a successful college career thus far.
Regardless of which players will be taking the court for each side, this series promises to be an epic one that basketball fans won’t want to miss. As the matchup draws near, fans can expect heated competition between two elite basketball programs. The transfer portal will be significant for both teams in the upcoming seasons as Arizona and Alabama seek to replenish their rosters following key departures.
