The Baltimore Orioles are coming off a surprise season. Nobody saw them close to competing in 2022, and yet there they were. Now they have some questions heading into the 2023 season. Make sure to check out our Baltimore Orioles 2023 Preview:
The Orioles finished the season with a 83-79 record in 2023. Though, they have a couple of questions regarding Camden Yards. They have declined the option to stay there now. Though, they do want a long-term deal, as Camden Yards is still one of the greatest stadiums in the MLB.
However, when taking a look at the roster there are some questions as well. Jorge Mateo looked like a gold glove short stop in 2022 so if you start him there, where does that leave Gunnar Henderson? Where do you play All-Star Anthony Santander? Can Adam Frazier improve on the late-season surge that he had with the Seattle Mariners a season ago. Will the Orioles bring up any prospects before opening day?
When it comes to the pitching staff things are looking a bit better, but John Means won’t be back until close to the All-Star Break. The Orioles added both Kyle Gibson and Cole Irvin. Those two guys will replace Jordan Lyles in the starting rotation. Tyler Wells, was considerably the Orioles best starter last season. Do you start him or put him back in the bullpen where he fared better in the bullpen?
Brandon Hyde has his work cut out with some decisions to make this spring.
