The Phoenix Suns have been one of the busiest teams of the offseason. On Sunday morning, they continued their trend toward building a championship roster. The Suns signed Forward/Center Bol Bol to a one-year deal.

Dating back to the previous weekend, the Suns were the frontrunners to sign Bol. Earlier this month, the 23-year-old was waived by the Orlando Magic as they opted to move on before the contract became fully guaranteed for next season.
Bol, a second-round pick out of Oregon in 2019, was limited to 53 games in Denver during his first three years in the NBA due to injuries. With the Magic last season, he enjoyed his best season to date. The 7-foot-2-inch big man stayed on the court for 70 games and averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 21.5 minutes per night.
Given that he was only expected to make $2.2 M next season. It was surprising to see the Magic waive Bol. Though, he struggled in the second half of the season as his playing time and shooting efficiency dropped off.
The playing time for Bol will not come easy, he’ll have to compete with DeAndre Ayton, Drew Eubanks and Chimezie Metu. Before signing Bol Bol, the Suns had traded Cameron Payne to San Antonio in exchange for some picks in order to open up a roster spot.
The Suns have also acquired Eric Gordon, Bradley Beal, Keita Bates-Diop and others this offseason. It appears that the Suns will run with Beal as the point guard. The organization is going all in on building around Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, as they attempt to win their first championship.
