Ninth place Bologna hosted current champions, Milan, in the first clash of matchday 30 in the Seria A season. Milan can strengthen their chances of getting Champions League football next season with a win while Bologna can boost their chances of playing in Europe next season if they were to come out victorious. Here’s how the match went:

Bologna Lead Early

Bologna took the lead 33 seconds into the match. Milan failed to deal with Stefan Posch’s overlap and he played a driven cross into the box that Sansone converted after his run across the face of the goal. Milan had an early deficit to overcome.

1st Half

Pioli made 10 outfield changes so Milan were expected to look a bit disjointed. However a win is still crucial for their journey to make the top four.

Pioli’s men were growing into the game and trying to grab the equalizer but still lacked conviction in the final third.

Rebic registered Milan’s first shot on target in the 20th minute. Florenzi’s cross found the striker’s head but his header was straight at the keeper.

Florenzi had his free kick saved by Skorupski who was getting busier as the game went on.

The hosts had their first shot on goal since Sansone’s goal. Aebisher’s curled shot from outside the box flew over the bar.

Minutes later, Pobega grabbed the equalizer for his team. A stunning left footed shot from 20 yards out flew past Skorupski.

Bologna went into the locker room needing drastic improvement while Milan needed to keep their feet on the gas and push for their second goal.

2nd Half

Bologna looked more resolute defensively and forced Milan into taking long range shots.

Pioli brought on Brahim Diaz and Leao with 20 minutes to go.

Leao created the most dangerous chance of the half just four minutes after entering the pitch. He cut back and passed to Pogeba who couldn’t beat Skorupski.

Leao created another good chance in the 90th minute. He played another cross into the box that found Brahim. But the Spaniard couldn’t make contact with the ball.

Ultimately, both teams shared the points. Milan would be disappointed to leave with only one point while Bologna would settle for a point which temporarily keeps them in eighth.
