Breanna Stewart had recently narrowed her choices down to the Liberty, and the Seattle Storm. Though, now she appears to be headed to New York.
After falling to the Chicago Sky in the playoffs, the Liberty appear to be putting together an all-star team with this addition. The team has already acquired Jonquel Jones earlier in the off-season.
The four-time all-star, Stewart will join forces with Jones, Sabrina Ionescu, Kayla Thornton and others.
Wednesday marks the first day that WNBA free agents can officially sign contracts and offers for the 2023 season, there are still some specifics to work out in the contract.
Breanna Stewart was picked No. 1 overall by the Storm in 2016, winning two WNBA titles with the franchise. She won league MVP in 2018. Now at 28 years old, she has averaged 20.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in her career. Stewart missed all of 2019 with an Achilles injury. Her numbers have improved since that return in 2020, and eventually 2021.
More to come.
