The Clippers eliminated the Jazz in game 6 after a 131-119 victory.
After trailing 2-0 early on in the series, L.A. seemed doomed to have another playoff run ended short.
However, they would not be denied this year as they won four games in a row, and clinched a spot in their first ever conference finals.
For years, the Clippers have been living in the shadow of the Lakers, but now they have shown that they could become the new face of Los Angeles.
They will head to Phoenix to take on another young and talented team in the west.
Game 6 stats
The Clippers entered game 6 without Kawhi Leonard once again, putting them at a disadvantage from the jump.
However, this did not seem to be a problem as they had five double figure scorers, three of them recording over 25 points.
To much surprise, it was third year forward Terance Mann who led the way for the Clippers with his postseason career high of 39 points. Mann had 25 of these points in the second half alone.
Paul George added 28 points, while Reggie Jackson was right behind him with 27 points on the night.
Forward Nicholas Batum finished with 16 points and Patrick Beverly added 12 points, as the supporting cast for L.A. helped make up for the absence of Leonard.
As for Utah, Donovan Mitchell looked out of this world once again, finishing with 39 points, and just one rebound and assist away from a triple-double.
Both Royce O’Neale and Jordan Clarkson added some sparks with 21 points each. However, all of Clarkson’s 21 came in the first half.
The most intriguing stat to take note of however, was that the Clippers trailed by 25 points at one point in the game.
The Jazz outscored them 39-19 in the second quarter, and led by 22 points at the half.
The second half seemed like it was a completely different game as L.A. outscored Utah 81-47.
While the Clippers will be heading to the next round, the Jazz will have to spend some time being reminded of how close they were to forcing a game 7 and possibly moving on to the conference finals.
