The Draymond Green suspension does not currently have a set return date. However, we have learned that he will reportedly miss somewhere between 11 and 13 games.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Green is working towards reinstatement by attending individual counseling sessions, along with virtual meetings with team, union, and league officials. Wojnarowski reported that there is a “general belief” among the people involved in the process that the suspension will last around 11-13 games if there are no setbacks.
Green was suspended after striking Jusuf Nurkic in the face during a game against the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 12. The repeated history of suspensions for Green led to the league taking a different approach to try to stop his on-court antics. The league suspended him indefinitely on Dec. 13 and said he would be required to meet certain conditions from the NBA and Golden State Warriors to be eligible to return.
Green’s suspension is the sixth of his career. He was suspended five games earlier in the season for grabbing Rudy Gobert’s neck in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Green was also suspended during the 2023 playoffs when he stomped on Domantas Sabonis’ chest.
During his suspension, Green loses $153,941 for every game he misses. He is currently in the first year of a four-year, $100 million contract, which he signed with the Warriors this offseason.
The Golden State Warriors have held on during the Draymond Green suspension thus far. Golden State won five straight games prior to a defeat against the Denver Nuggets on Christmas Day.
The Warriors are currently 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 15-15. They are 2.5 games back of the Los Angeles Clippers for the sixth seed in the West.
