In an offseason already full of news and excitement for the New York Jets, they added to that today. Elijah Moore has been traded to the Cleveland Browns for the 43rd pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Along with Moore, the Jets are sending over the 74th pick.
For the Jets, this comes just after the signing of Mecole Hardman to a one-year contract. They now hold the 42nd and 43rd pick in this year’s draft, but that may not last long. As many know, they still need to pry Aaron Rodgers away from the Green Bay Packers. One if not both of those picks could be used as compensation for the future Hall of Famer. However, many also speculated that Elijah Moore would be traded to the Packers as part of compensation, so it’s up in the air. In addition, the Jets are looking at Odell Beckham Jr. as well, per Connor Hughes of SNY TV.
As for the Browns, they successfully secured another weapon for an offense that needs to succeed this next year. After trading for Deshaun Watson last offseason, the Browns have been at the brunt of criticism for levying their future on someone with Watson’s reputation. The pressure will obviously be on the entire team and front office to succeed in the next couple of years. Adding Moore is a great start for a team who undoubtedly needed to add someone to complement Amari Cooper.
