On Friday Night Smackdown, Gunther formerly known as Walter for majority of his NXT run was called up Friday night. Along with Gunther, a repackaged Marcel Barthel now known as Ludwig Kaiser joined the big man for his debut.

Gunther was showcased to the WWE Universe in a quick squash match, where he quickly destroyed some local talent. The Ring General is a former 1 time NXT United Kingdom Champion, where he reigned supreme for 870 days. Throughout his development career, Gunther acted as the head of Imperium, a stable that dominated both NXT and NXT UK.

Gunther spent majority of his development overseas in NXT UK, but to kick off 2022 moved to NXT full time and has been working in the states since. WWE must be pleased with what he has shown thus far pulling him up only 3 months later.

The current talk right now is he and Ludwig may act as a tag team for the time being, but the way he was presented on Smackdown, it appears he may just have a mouth piece for the time being. We will have to wait and see how this all plays out. However, it should not be underestimated who Gunther is and what he is capable of inside the squared circle. If booked correctly, The Ring General can be a cornerstone monster for WWE, for years to come.
