NFL season is now two weeks in the books. Players are exceeding expectations already, which leads to MVP talk. MVP talk has begun to rise as some surprising players seem more likely to win it than the favorites. One of the players already exceeding expectations is, Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Coming into the season the Eagles were still unsure of Hurts’ future with the team, however, after being QB1 for the Eagles in 2021 and leading them to a wild card playoff game. Hurts is due for another chance.

Week 1

Hurts threw for 243 yards on 18 of 32 passing completions (56.3%) in the Eagles’ week one win. The takeaway from week one from Hurts is that he used his legs to keep the Eagles in the game. Running for 90 yards with a rushing touchdown to go with that. Despite Hurts’ still showing signs of leaving the pocket to early, he was the reason why the Eagles won against the Lions.

Week 2

Monday night football always brings the best out of NFL players and that was the case for Hurts. Hurts, perhaps, played the best game of his young NFL career. Throwing for 333 yards while completing 83.9% (26-31) of his passes. Also played his role in the running game with two rushing touchdowns, one of which was that he did not give up on the play, real Philly-like. This was Hurts’ coming out party, showing that he can compete on an elite level on any given night. His performance helped the Eagles dominate the Vikings and move to 2-0 on the year.

Jalen Hurts is currently seventh in all of the NFL for both passing yards and QBR (quarterback rating. Hurts and the Eagles move on to Washington Sunday, September 25th. Now, the question is can Hurts continue his performance and become a consistent elite quarterback in the NFL.
