In shocking breaking news, Jaylon Smith has been released by the Cowboys. This is a development nobody saw coming. This appears to be a cap move as his salary was guaranteed even if he got injured. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys seem to think it was safer to release him than be on the hook for the money. Smith was owed $7.2 million in 2022. It’s not often that a starting linebacker for a division leading team gets the boot so early in the season.
