The brutal luck of Minnesota fans continues. On Thursday Morning, we all got some Woj/Shams bombs that stink. Both of which that stated Karl-Anthony Towns has suffered an injury to his Meniscus.
There’s no exact declaration as to how much time KAT will miss, but nonetheless, the injury comes at an awful time. The T-Wolves are in the midst of arguably their best season since the early 2000s, maybe even before that. They’re currently 43-19 and are the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Prior to the Meniscus injury, Karl-Anthony Towns has been having a stellar season himself.
I think mostly everybody wanted to see what the T-Wolves could at full health. Especially after trading for Rudy Gobert in 2022. I mean this news comes with some pulling at the heart strings, it broke before you made your morning coffee. I feel for the Timberwolves fans and I’ll talk about that more on the next episode of the Hoop Culture podcast.
Aside from the injury, this timing is just brutal. The playoffs start in 44 days, and while that seems like a lot, it’ll be here before you know it. Hopefully, KAT’s injury isn’t as bad as it could be, like Woj suggests and he’ll be good to go on 40+ days of rest. However, this also isn’t something the T-Wolves want to rush. If he hurts it even more, it could be detrimental to his career.
The injury will have a large impact on the offensive side of the court. Even with KAT, the Timberwolves rank No. 18 in Offense. It’s been a question mark for them all season. But when both KAT and Ant are off the floor, they have the worst Offensive Rating in the league. Now defenses can focus more on Anthony Edwards.
The T-Wolves can stay a top-three seed in the West, but there’s some light at the end of the tunnel for whoever comes into the playoffs as 6-10.
