Lamar Jackson will once again be watching his Ravens play from the sidelines for the second year in a row after being ruled out for Sunday. Jackson will miss his sixth game nursing the Grade 2 PCL strain he suffered in Week 13 against the Broncos. Tyler Huntley is expected to take the duties under center. With this decision, Jackson has drawn on critics, some from unlikely places.

Recently signed wide receiver Sammy Watkins surprisingly seems to be questioning whether or not Jackson cares about the playoff game.

“In this league, everybody is pretty much banged up. I don’t want to speak for him and whatever he’s going through with the contracts. But for me, you got a chance to do something special. He can will this team to a Super Bowl. I don’t think he’s thinking about it that way.”

Watkins’ comments of course have landed him in hot water with a ton of former players and Ravens faithful. However, there were also those who seemingly shared in Watkins’ suspicions. Lamar himself may have started feeling some of the heat since he took to Twitter to open up about his injury.

Amongst the drama, it is still widely believed that the Ravens will look to extend Lamar Jackson’s contract this offseason. The real question seems to be if the Ravens are willing to pay their franchise quarterback rather than if they’re willing to pay him at all. Last offseason, both parties couldn’t agree on the terms to keep Jackson in purple for the long haul. We’ll see how committed to each other each side is as we move forward through the offseason, or if the Ravens advance through the playoffs subsequently allowing Lamar to more chances to play.
