LSU women’s basketball team is gearing up for another successful season with the recent addition of transfer player, Hailey Van Lith. Van Lith was a standout player at Louisville, and her signing has LSU fans buzzing with anticipation for the upcoming season.
Things heated up a week ago when Van Lith took a visit to Baton Rouge and met with Kim Mulkey, the head coach of LSU women’s basketball team. The acquisition of Hailey Van Lith is a game-changer for LSU women’s basketball team, and it shows that the program is committed to remaining one of the top teams in the country. She is a 20 ppg scorer and a willing passer. She gives the Tigers both experience and toughness.
Another key point, she joins Angel Reese in what looks to be a formidable duo that is sure to dominate the court this season. The Washington native will be replacing Alexis Morris, who was recently drafted to the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA. Along with SEC Freshman of the Year, Flau’jae Johnson, the defending national champions are looking strong and focused as they head into the new season.
Hailey Van Lith and Kim Mulkey History
Hailey Van Lith’s signing with LSU women’s basketball team marks a reunion of sorts with head coach Kim Mulkey. Coming out of high-school, Mulkey heavily recruited Van Lith. However, she ultimately chose to attend Louisville, but now the two are back together. Now, Van Lith will finally get to play under Mulkey’s guidance and leadership at LSU. Mulkey will be entering her third season for LSU and is changing the culture for the program.
Undoubetdly, Van Lith is a perfect fit for the flamboyant Mulkey’s coaching style. The former Louisville star is vocal on the court and her playing style is agressive. Interestingly, when Van Lith entered the portal, she entered as a “no-contact” transfer. This means that coaches were not allowed to contact her directly. Many speculated that Van Lith was holding out for Kim Mulkey, and it seems that those speculations were right. The spotlight will certainly be on the Tigers with this star-studded roster. There’s no doubt that they will be making headlines this season.
