The Miami Marlins are coming off of a 69-93 season. It was a disappointing season, that led to some personnel changes from top to bottom across the organization. They have also decided to undergo some philosophical and cultural changes. For the In-Depth Miami Marlins 2023 Preview, watch below:

In all seriousness, the Miami Marlins are a hard team to predict how they’ll do. The energy is there, this team is young and they have a passion for the game. Especially, with Jazz Chisholm Jr. as the face of the franchise. The acquisitions of Jean Segura and Luis Arraez bolster this roster offensively, but will it be enough to contend in any form? Can you build a roster with only second basemen? The Marlins are going to try. Garrett Cooper, who will take over the full-time designated hitter duties is the only player playing in his natural position. Arraez will be the Marlins’ everyday second baseman but he split time at multiple positions with the Twins last season. Segura is currently slotted to start at third, and Chisholm is moving to Center Field. Joey Wendle, who split time at second, third and short last season will be the everyday shortstop.

First-year manager Skip Schumaker has his work cut out for him. The offseason additions have undoubtedly improved the Marlins’ lineup, but they still might not score consistently enough to make an impact in the NL East.
