How things are

Things got a little more interesting in the NL East as the Phillies lead the NL East division. They are ahead of the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets. With the season coming into its last two crucial months, fans are wondering who will take away the title.

Three-way race

The Philadelphia Phillies are on a massive tear this season, as they have clawed themselves back into the divisional race. After it seemed that they were going to have another disappointing season. Where they would miss the playoffs once again. But star players like Bryce Harper, Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, etc have all been stepping up recently. The Phillies recently swept the New York Mets in order to take lead of the division. And with the way they are playing it doesn’t look like they will slow down.

At the start of the season based on paper, you would think the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves would tug it out for the division. That is the case, but the Mets have recently slipped up in the standings and need to get themselves back on track. After the acquisition of Javier Baez on trade deadline, it looked like the Mets were about to be unstoppable. Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil, Francisco Lindor all have been contributing equally. Unfortunately things haven’t gone as planned, and the Mets recently were swept by the Phillies. Which means they gave up the lead of the division. Although there is plenty of baseball left to play, the Mets need to pick up the pace.

Disappointment

The Atlanta Braves are not the Braves from last season. As their pitching struggled due to injuries to star pitcher Mike Soroka and Ronald Acuna Jr. Inconsistency from star players like Ozzie Albies, , and Freddie Freeman. The Hitting department for the Braves have been really disappointing. Up until Acuna got injured, he was the one leading the Braves and keeping home in contention. The Braves are in and out of the division, just when you think they are going to make it, they slip up and fall down the pecking order. The question is will they be able to push deep into the season and get a wild card spot?

Baseball fans you have two months left of regular season baseball and which team will be the one’s to win the division as things get tighter. Injuries come more often, who will surpass all those issues and claim top spot?
