After a stellar start to his 2023 campaign, Cousins unfortunately tore his Achilles in a Week 8 win against Green Bay. Up that point, he had over 2,300 yards and 18 touchdowns. Regardless, there are plenty of teams that not only want, but need a guy like him for next season. In this article, we’ll take a look at some landing spots for Kirk Cousins that make the most sense.
Denver Broncos
If Russell Wilson gets cut or traded by the start of next season, the Broncos have no viable option at QB.With no real shot at the top three quarterbacks in the draft, I think Denver would strongly consider bringing in a guy like Cousins during free agency. In addition, he’s accurate, gets the ball out of his hands, and can take a hit. All things that coach Sean Payton has coveted throughout his career.
Atlanta Falcons
I think the Falcons will look to trade up in the draft if they can’t get a deal done for a guy like Justin Fields. However, I don’t really see any of the top three or four teams wanting to come out of their picks. So, with a brand new coaching regime,it makes a lot of sense for them to want to start with some stability at quarterback. Something they will not find with Desmond Ridder. Atlanta also has a very talented offensive roster and could easily compete for a division title with Cousins under center.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Unfortunately for the Steelers, Mason Rudolph outshined their former first round pick Kenny Pickett this season season. You cannot go into a season with Mason Rudolph as your QB1. With that being said, I believe Mike Tomlin wants to stop messing around at the most important position in football and give his solid group of playmakers a real option at QB.
