Russell Wilson and Denver Broncos

After much speculation as to where Russell Wilson may play next season, the veteran QB has given the answer. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Russell Wilson will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers next season. Wilson’s social media, confirmed it.

Wilson and the Broncos parted ways earlier this offseason. He’s met with several teams prior to the start of the new league year on Wednesday. The good news for whatever team that signed him is he’d likely sign a team friendly deal. That will be the case for the Steelers, as Russell Wilson signed just a one-year deal.

Wilson will be looking to prove that he’s still capable of winning a championship. Especially after things didn’t work out in Denver. He did at least show that he is capable of being a starting quarterback, throwing for 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns and completed 66.4 percent of his attempts in 15 starts last season.

The Steelers have failed to find a quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger retired. The experiments with Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett have been a failure. Because of that, they have always been linked to top-tier quarterbacks.

This could be a perfect opportunity for both sides. At 35 years old, Wilson needs to be pushed and that’s exact what Mike Tomlin can do. Wilson appears to be hungry for at least one more championship, the Steelers are anxious for one. The last Super Bowl win for the black and yellow was 2009. He also comes at an insanely cheap price for the Steelers, with the Broncos paying him $38 Million this next season.

Another team that Wilson had been linked to was the Atlanta Hawks. Although, that kind of simmered when they parted ways with Arthur Smith, who is now the OC in Pittsburgh.
