Now that the Seahawks have found their new head coach, they must find someone to take over the offense’s reins. With Mike Macdonald being a defensive mind, there’s almost a need for that coordinator to have full reins. Someone who can be trusted with that. Ryan Grubb could be one of those guys for the Seahawks.

The Seahawks are familiar with the kind of offense that Grubb runs due to his time with the Washington Huskies, where the campus is only a 19-minute drive from the Seahawks training facility. There were reports that Grubb had interviewed for the Washington HC job after DeBoer departed. However, he wasn’t named the successor.

Though the Crimson Tide never announced it, Grubb followed DeBoer to Alabama. As we’ve seen with the Packers’ defensive coordinator position, college coaches may move to the right opportunity presents itself. That could be that sort of opportunity for the Seahawks and Ryan Grubb. At 47 years old, Grubb has a long resume of success.

In the two years, that Grubb served as the Associate Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator, the Huskies were quickly identified as an offensive powerhouse. Mainly with their pass-first style of offense. At Washington, Grubb and DeBoer had installed a play-action scheme that forces the safeties to make a decision.

That offensive scheme led the Huskies to the National Championship. Grubb has no experience at the NFL level. Before working with the Huskies, he worked at Fresno State (2017-21), Eastern Michigan (2014-16), Sioux Falls (2007-13), and South Dakota State (2005-06).

Nothing is finalized yet and more candidates will probably pop up, but as of now Grubb is the only name known to be in consideration for the Seahawks Offensive Coordinator opening under their new head coach.
