The Seattle Seahawks are still playoff hopeful but they will be without starting Tight End Will Dissly as they close out the season. Dissly was placed on injured reserve after suffering what Seahawks coach Pete Carroll called a knee contusion in Saturday’s game in Kansas City.

“He got banged on the knee, he’s got a contusion that he’s dealing with,” Carroll said Monday on his weekly radio show on Seattle Sports 710 AM. “So we’ve got to figure what that’s all about.”

Injuries have plagued Dissly early in his career, in 2019 the Seahawks TE underwent a season-ending surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon six games into the season. Since then, he has played in 46 games with minor inuries here and there.

There is a chance he plays if the Seahawks make the post-season, but Dissly finishes the regular season with a career highs in receptions (34) and yards (349), and had three receiving touchdowns while also being an important part of the running game and a key contributor on special teams. The key contributor is a former University of Washington product who has been with the Seahawks since 2018. In his absence, Carroll and the Seahawks offense will lean towards Noah Fant and Colby Parkinson.

In addition, to placing Will Dissly on the IR the Seahawks made two corresponding moves. The first move was adding CB Xavier Crawford off the practice squad. The Seahawks also announced they signed safety Steven Parker to the practice squad. Crawford will round out the 53-man roster for Week 17, and provide special teams depth with safety Joey Blount going on injured reserve Monday.

Crawford, a 2019 fifth-round pick who signed with Seattle’s practice squad earlier this year, has appeared in five games this season. He has played 48 snaps on special teams.
