Bradley Beal Trade Finalists Heat, Suns

The inevitable is on the horizon as the list of finalists in a trade everyone has had their eyes on was reported. The Washington Wizards narrowed their Bradley Beal trade options down to two possible teams per Shams Charania of The Athletic. The Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat are reportedly in deep trade talks with the Wizards surrounding the NBA star.

After the Milwaukee Bucks were reportedly in the running, it appears they are not amongst the finalists. However, the other team heavily linked to the former all-star is. The Miami Heat are trying to get finalize a deal while keeping Tyler Herro. Herro was out with injury for the majority of the Heat’s playoff games. But reports about the Heat trying to keep him suggest he’s still a core member of the team. What the Heat do have is control over the majority of their first-round picks in the coming years. They also have a team that ranked last in point per game and adding a player who consistently scores over 20 ppg would greatly help.

The Suns are a bit of a surprise entry into the Beal sweepstakes, however, there are connections. They also don’t have a lot to give in terms of draft capital. What they do have is a disgruntled yet young and talented center in Deandre Ayton who would benefit from being in a new environment. Bradley Beal holds a no-trade clause in his contract, so if Phoenix is his desired location, there is a way to financially make that happen. A trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Beal would supply the Suns with elite offensive firepower.

Beal averaged 23.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds last season. However, Beal will earn $208 million over the next four seasons and has missed 74 games over the past two seasons. It doesn’t appear to be something that either team is hung up on so far, but that could change in the coming days.
