In a surprising move, the Titans’ Josh Dobbs will be starting in place of Malik Willis for the upcoming game against the Cowboys. To make the waters even murkier in Tennessee, the Titans also placed injured starter Ryan Tannehill on injured reserve. His season has basically ended, leaving the playoff hopeful in disarray.

Although the Titans are dealing with a plethora of injuries at the moment Willis is not one of them. However, there are rumors circulating that due to the massive amounts of injuries plaguing the team, they have chosen to “save” him. There are three offensive linemen already on IR, they are also without starting RT Nicholas Petite-Frere. RG Aaron Brewer is expected to play but is also nursing an injury.

On top of that Derrick Henry, the engine of the Titans is also doubtful to suit up. It’s possible the Titans are saving Willis for their Week 18 matchup against the Jaguars, a game that will most likely be for the division. Willis is struggling to fill in for the injured Tannehill as he’s posted three interceptions and no passing touchdowns in Tannehill’s absence. If the Titans and Josh Dobbs make it competitive, it’s fair to wonder if they use Dobbs again next week. It will be a story to watch for as the Titans take on the Cowboys this Thursday night.
